Hawkfield Manor

We moved back to NC in 2008 with 2 little boys, and a dream to move to the country and start farming. In 2010 we met an amish family and in the process of purchasing a cow from them, were offered the opportunity to move to their huge farmhouse and take over their farmers markets with goat dairy, cow dairy, beef, eggs, and garden produce. That summer with our 3 little boys we lived in the amish farm and made connections with some amazing people that supported us, and pushed us to continue offering farm products that heal and nourish, vs. mainstream/traditional farming.

This gave us the foundation and passion for regenerative farming, and upon moving to a cousins ranch in the fall of 2010, we actively began implementing these practices with our herds of dairy goats, herd of cattle, and poultry management. Now as "Hawkfield Manor" and independent of the farmers markets and co-ops where our products were lumped in with others, we take pride what our practices have produced - livestock thriving on lush pastures with returning native grasses from 6 years of intense Mob Grazing, and wooded areas being transformed into silvopasture.

We chose to direct our efforts in raising Grassfed, Grass-finished livestock to produce frozen Beef and Lamb products, and keep a few goats for personal raw dairy. We have goals in our cattle breeding program that we are VERY excited about, to produce stock that will thrive on our regenerative methods of grazing and foraging, be more parasite resistant, and have optimal reproductive health. Right now our herd has Angus, Charolais, and Angus Whiteface broodcows. Last year we bred half our cows to a Pure Registered Normande Bull, producing a new generation of Heifers that will be our NEW broodcows in the coming years. This will be a turnaround of 4 years before we process their offspring that will be Angus Splash or Charolais Splash. Our current Red Angus Bull is incredible, and he will be bred to our current broodstock and upcoming Normande Mix broodstock, to produce a "Hawkfield Manor" beef herd.

Our Free-Range Poultry is supplemeneted with Non-GMO feeds, and we select eggs for hatching seasonally. Our hope is to produce affordable barnyard mix chicks for our community, started on organic feed and unmedicated. Our daughter has 3 bred rabbit does that will be producing meat and/or pet quality rabbits for the community as well. We use their droppings as fertilizer to prepare our new large garden bed, and hope to have a thriving garden this summer.

We serve the greater farming communities of the USA with our Anatolian Shepherd Dog breeding program, "Hawkfield Anatolians". We have 19 puppies between the 2 litters we produced (2021 & 2022), working on homesteads, farms, and ranches. We love to keep up with the families through a private facebook group.

Our hope is to open our homestead for homeschool farm tours & customer farm tours, in the spring of 2023. Right now we are still in the midst of renovations and clean up, heading into our 2nd year here (about a mile from our cattle pastures).

Silvopasture is Jonathan's passion and he currently is available for consultation services on local farms in the central NC area. Upon determining a plan, we do offer management services as well, but his schedule fills up quickly. We will work with you to achieve your goals for silvopasture on your homestead, farm, or ranch.

Please fill out the contact form if you are interested in any of our practices, products, programs, or silvopasture management!
